Citizens can book specialist appointments one day in advance from Indhira Gandhi Memorial hospital. The following describes the procedure.

• Vacant appointments must be available from the desired doctor.
• The desired doctor must be on duty on the required day.

1. Go to the OPD counter, and take a token number and when your number is displayed, submit the necessary documents and forms (listed in “Documents and Forms required”) and inform the staff at the counter about the department of the doctor and name to whom you want to show.
2. The staff at the counter will then issue a list of doctor’s available and their schedule.
3. Choose a doctor from the required department to whom you want to book an appointment with and inform about it to the staff.
4. Submit the hospital card, or any other identification document (national identity card, pass port, work permit) to the counter.
5. If you are unsure of the doctor’s name or specialist to which you want to make an appointment, tell the receptionist your medical condition and they will guide you to the right doctor department.
6. You will be required to state the following information:
   Name of the patient for whom the appointment is being booked:
   Permanent address of the patient.
   Date of Birth of the patient. (if known)
   Age of the patient (if DOB is unknown)
   Contact number(s) of the patient.

• National Identity Card/ Hospital Card or any other document that identifies you (work permit, passport).

• This service is for free.

• If the patient do not have a hospital card, the patient must first register and obtain the hospital and obtain a hospital card.
• As per the new rules, appointment from IGMH must be made 1 (one) day in advance.
• An LCD screen would display the appointments remaining with the doctors on the duty at that day which is placed in the OPD and IDP lobby. The information displayed would be varied according to the appointments being done.
• During public holidays, OPD counters will be opened 1 (one) day from every 3 (three) days. On Fridays the OPD counter will be closed. For an instance, if January 2008’s 9, 10, 11 are holidays, the OPD counter will be opened on 9th Wednesday or 10th Thursday.
• A public announcement would be done when opening the OPD counter on the holidays.
