obtain the vehicle registration CERTIFICATE FOR changing the owner of the vehicle

 
SERVICE DESCRIPTION

Individuals returning to change the owner of the vehicles need to renew the registration certificate of the vehicle from Ministry of Housing, Transport and  Environment (MHTE).  The following describes the procedure.

 

Locations:                                           Ministry of Housing, Transport and  Environment, Huravee Building,  First floor, Ameer Ahmed Magu Male', Phone: (+960) 3343433

Service available:                               08:00am to 04:00 pm, working days.

Average time for service:                    2 (two) days.

Number of visits required:                   2 (two).

 
CRITERIA/PRE-REQUISITES

·         Annual fee must be paid for the vehicle

·        Should not have any outstanding payment for the requested vehicle to MoTC due to any reason.

 
PROCEDURE

1.     Take a token number and when your number is displayed, submit the filled application form with the necessary documents (listed in “Documents and Form required”) to the service counter MHTE.

2.     Collect an acknowledgement slip from the counter if you have submitted all the required documents. (This slip states the time and dates which to collect the certificate from the ministry.)

3.     Go to the service counter of ministry of transport and communications on the date specified on the acknowledgement slip (after taking a token number) and submit the slip to the counter.

4.     Sign on the slip issued from the counter stating that you have collected the certificate from the ministry and obtain the road owner name change registration certificate.

·         Filled LR1 Form  (3471 KB )

·         Filled A1 Form.(1042 KB )

·         Vehicle annual fee payment receipt (original or copy).

·         Vehicle registration certificate (original and copy).

·         Vehicle owner’s National Identification Card (copy and original)

·        The National Identification Card (copy and original) of the person to whom the registration has to be changed.

·         If changing to a name of a trade permit company, company’s registration certificate (original and copy)

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

·        Any service to a vehicle would be provided only if the necessary fees had been settled.

·        The application for the service to the particular vehicle would be accepted when the payment is settled for the traffic and parking violations.

·        The four wheeled vehicle can be registered if, a document stating the garage where it is parked should be submitted or obtaining parking stickers for four months.
