TAKE a MARITIME DRIVING License THEORY EXAM

 
SERVICE DESCRIPTION

Citizens who want to drive marine vessels must pass a theory exam conducted by Transport Division under Ministry of Housing, Transport and Environment. The following describes the procedure.

Service available:                  8:15 AM to 01:00 PM, working days      

Average Time for service:      The result will be issued one day after the test.

Number of visits required:      3 (three)

 
CRITERIA/PRE-REQUISITES

 

·         The applicant should be 18 years or above.

 
PROCEDURE

1.     Take a token number and when your number is displayed, submit the filled application form with the necessary documents (listed in “documents and Forms required”) to the service counter.

2.     Make the payment and obtain the payment receipt (the date and time at which the theory exam held would be stated in the receipt).

3.     Attend to the examination room of ministry on the specific date mentioned in the payment receipt and do the theory exam (The examiner will announce that the result will be issued one day after the test).

4.     Go to the ministry on the date informed to obtain the result of the exam and submit the (after taking a token number) payment slip (previously issued) to the counter.

5.     Fill the slip issued from the counter and obtain the documents and forms submitted along with the result slip if you have passed or failed from the test.

 
DOCUMENTS AND FORMS REQUIRED

·         Filled ML-1 form (original)

·         One passport size photo.

·         If the applicant is a Maldivian: National Identity Card (copy)

·         If the applicant is a foreigner:

o    Work permit (copy)

o    If have a foreign license, license card (copy)

 
FEE

·         Rf 15/-  

 
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

·         The practical examination must be taken within 2 months after the theory examination.

·         If the applicant is having Navigation certificate or certificate of competency, can apply for driving exam.

·         If a foreigner holds a Maritime driving license for marine vessel issued by another country, it will be decided to give regulation ‘policy’ guideline test or written test after verification by the section.

·         If the applicant failed the Theory exam he/she should apply for the theory exam.
