Police Clearance Certificate is the document issued by Maldives Police Service for Maldivian who want to go abroad for work, foreigners who had worked in Maldives or who want to leave the current job and join another in Maldives or abroad, stating about his/ her criminal records. The following describes the procedure.

Service available:                   08:30am to 14:00pm, working days.

Average time for service:        4 (four) days

1. Submit the filled application form with the necessary documents and forms (listed in “Documents and Forms required”) to Maldives Police Service Headquarters in Male’.
2. After 3 working days, MPS will inform (via phone) the date and time to obtain Police Clearance Certificate.
3. Go to the MPS on the date and time informed and submit your National Identity Card (original) and obtain the Police Clearance Certificate.
   

Maldivian citizens:

1. Filled “Application for Police Clearance Certificate” form.
2. Passport size photograph (taken within the past 3 months with white background).
3. Authenticated National Identity Card or License card (copy)
4. If applying to submit the Police Certificate to a foreign country, authenticated passport’s information page (copy)

Foreigners;

1. Filled “Application for Police Certificate” form.
2. Passport size photograph (taken within the past 3 months with white background).
3. Authenticated passport’s information page (copy)
4. If the individual is not a dependent, authenticated work permit card (copy)
5. An original letter from employer in their letterhead with original stamp (the letter should state the work period of the applicant)
6. If the individual is a dependent, authenticated dependent card (copy)
7. If the individual is a dependent, authenticated original visa holder’s passport (copy)

• If someone else is going on your behalf to collect the Police Clearance Certificate that person has to bring his/ her National Identity Card as well as yours.
