RELOCATION OF WATER METER

SERVICE DESCRIPTION

Persons requiring relocation of the water meter(s) can request for the service from the Male' Water and Sewerage Company Pvt. Ltd. (MWSC). The following describes the procedure:

CRITERIA/PRE-REQUISITES
  • Conditions for Water Services:
    • The connection may only be registered to the property owner. The owner shall be held responsible for the protection of water meter and other facilities provided by MWSC.
    • If the land is registered to multiple parties and if the connection is required for the one party, approval (no objection) from other parties must be obtained.
    • All outstanding invoices related to the previous services must be paid in full before the provision of a new connection.
    • The water bill shall be produced in the name of the property owner. The bill for domestic connection will only be delivered to the address where the water meter is fixed. However, the water bills for institutional and commercial connection may be delivered to the other addresses.
    • If there is a pathway or a narrow alley between the parts of a property, the pathway should be cleared of the previous water and sewerage connection. The water/ sewer connection previously provided should be terminated or relocated before new services can be provided. Also the meters provided to the previous owner should be changed to the new owners of the property.
    • Installation of water must be within 2 feet from the boundary wall and above 2 feet from the ground. If there are other meters in the same building, meters may be fixed in a row.
    • There shall be no restriction on the number of sub meters that can be installed for a customer.
  • Criteria for Domestic Connection:
    • As soon as the site is ready to a state where MWSC staff could work to provide the connection, MWSC provides connection to the following categories of habitats:
      • Each land registry produced by Male' Municipality for a particular land (used for accommodation) shall be considered as one household and is eligible for one connection.
      • In case of high rise building one connection for each individual flat
      • Any domestic premise legally sub-divided and where Male' Municipality has not produced a separate land registry, then the sub division belonging to each owners will be considered as one household and is eligible for one water connection only.
PROCEDURE
  1. Take a token number and when your number is displayed, submit the filled application form with the necessary documents (listed in “Documents and Forms required”) to the customer service counter of MWSC.
  2. Customer Services staff will verify the documents and the customer is provided with an acknowledgement slip with date and time for survey
  3. Surveyor will visit the location on the stated day and time.
  4. Upon completion of the survey, date and time to collect the quotation will be informed (via phone).
  5. Collect the quotation from the customer services counter (after taking a token number). Make the payment and obtain a payment receipt.
  6. The connection team will visit the site and the work will be carried out.

  • Certificate of Registration, if the prospective customer is an association or a company (copy)
FEE
  • Rf 850/- (within one meter distance)
  • Rf 2600/- (more than a distance of one meter)
  • Board Charge (if road needs to be closed).
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
  • Company or institute stamp must be stamped on the Application form.
