IMPORT PLANTS AND OTHER VARIETIES OF PLANTS

 

SERVICE DESCRIPTION

Plants and other varieties of plants can only be imported if the necessary documents needed to import are applicable and once the Plants and other varieties of plants are checked from the entrée point. This service is provided by the Ministry of Fisheries and Agriculture. The following describes the procedure.

If importing from the Hulhule International Airport: Checking point in arrival terminal (Contact: Plant and Animal Quarantine Unit, Hulhule’, Phone: (+960) 3303742)

If importing from the Cargo Section in Hulhule: Checking point in Cargo Section (Contact: Plant and Animal Quarantine Unit, Hulhule’, Phone: (+960) 3303742)

CRITERIA/PRE-REQUISITES
  • Should have obtained permit to import plants and other varieties of plants from the Ministry of Fisheries and Agriculture.

 

PROCEDURE
  1. Submit the necessary documents (listed in “documents and Forms required”) and the fresh Plants and other varieties of plants to be imported to the quarantine officer at the checking point of arrival terminal or checking point of cargo section.
  2. The Quarantine Office will check whether the documents and the plants and other varieties of plants to be imported abides the criteria to import plants and other varieties of plants.
    The Quarantine Office will inform you whether the documents meet the criteria to import plants and other varieties of plants or not.
  3. If the documents abide the criteria to import plants and other varieties of plants, write your name, address, passport number, contact number, country the plants and other varieties of plants was brought from, flight number on the certificate given by the quarantine officer and obtain the plants and other varieties of plants from the Quarantine Officer.
  4. If the documents do not meet the criteria, the plants and other varieties of plants will be quarantined in the Plant and Animal Quarantine Section. The Quarantine Office will provide you a “quarantine detainment Notice”

 

DOCUMENTS AND FORMS REQUIRED
  • “Permit Letter” to import plants and other varieties of plants which was issued from the Ministry of Fisheries and Agriculture (Original or Copy).
  • Phytosanitary Certificate issued from the country the plants and other varieties of plants were brought from (Original).

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
  • The following are the characteristics of a applicable/valid certificate:
    • The certificate should be endorsed by an organization which is affiliated with the government of the country where the plants and other varieties of plants are brought from.
    • The certificate should be written in the organization’s letter head.
    • The national logo of the country should be stamped in the certificate.
    • The certificate should be the original copy.
    • The certificate number should be stated.
    • The logo of the organization should be stamped and should be endorsed (signed) by the organization.
    • The quantity and type of plants and other varieties of plants to be imported should be stated in the certificate.
