Express Mail Service (EMS) is much faster than the conventional postal service, allowing items to be delivered to major cities abroad. Maldives Post Ltd provides this service. The following describes the procedure.

                                               10:00am to 04:00pm, Saturday
                    Atolls:                  08:30am to 3:30 Sunday to Thursday   
Average Time for service:       5 (Five) minutes
Number of visits required:       1 (one)

• Type of items: Letters, Printed Papers/ Documents or Packages.
• Maximum weight: Up to 20kg with the option of 30 Kg to some countries.
• The size of the article may not exceed 1.5 meters for any dimension.
• The item must be correctly addressed.

Sending an EMS

1. Approach the counter of Maldives Post Ltd or any postal outlet and hand over the item to be posted
2. Articles other than documents need to be packed accordingly (in a secure manner) and will be checked by Customs and security personnel.
3. You will be required to fill the consignment note and hand it over to the counter staff.
4. The staff will then weigh the item and quote the price after filling the necessary documents based on the information provided by you.
5. Make the necessary payment and obtain the receipt of payment (with tracking number)
6. The item will be sent to its destination within 3 to 4 days (excluding holidays)

Receiving an EMS

1. All the items other than the items which require the Customs or security verification will be delivered to the recipient.
2. An Intimation Note will be sent to the recipient by Maldives Post Limited informing to collect the EMS items that are held for customs purposes.
3. Submit the intimation slip to Maldives Post Limited counter.
4. After going through the security check, make the necessary duty payment if you are required to pay any and obtain the EMS item.
